Reading MSNBC you would think that Germany has moved way to the right. What they fail to mention is that the Conservatives are most likely not going to make a coalition with the AFD. They will probably remain an opposition party. The only real surprise was that die LInke got almost 9% of the vote. That is equal to almost half of the AFD vote.
The left wing parties, SPD, Greens and die Linke got a combined total of 258 seats whereas the AFD got 141 seats. The Center right CDU/CSU got 196. Doesn't look like the FDP is going to make it in. Not sure yet about BSW which was part of the LInke until a few years back.
