An American living in 1860 had little or no electricity. no internet, no telephone and if they were lucky, maybe access to a newspaper. They were far less educated and therefore easily propagandized and fooled into believing political snake oil. An American living in 2024 does not have these excuses. There are, unfortunately, millions of disinterested, apathetic, uninformed and ignorant people who want to be entertained, not governed. That is why we now have Trump in office.
